Carol Geistweidt, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, at the age of 63. Funeral services for Carol Geistweidt will be held on Saturday, September 1, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Fry officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery at Doss. Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Wurz, Warren Jatzlau, Sam Geistweidt, Frank Bryant, Kurt Geistweidt and Dale Geistweidt. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beckmann Funeral Home.

Mrs. Geistweidt is survived by her husband, Ray Geistweidt, of Fredericksburg, four children Wes Bourland and fiance' Allison of New York, New York, Will Bourland and close friend Sarah of Fredericksburg, Sam Geistweidt and wife Danielle of Fredericksburg and Amy Jatzlau and husband Warren of Giddings, a sister Janet Smith and husband Jim of Bryan, a brother John Wurz of Bront and 3 grandchildren Emma Geistweidt, Madison Jatzlau and Holden Jatzlau. Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol was born in Dumas Texas on July 8, 1949 to Wesley O. Wurz and Eula Jean Olive Wurz. She was raised in the Dallas area and graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in Dallas. Carol married Ray Geistweidt on February 6, 1993 and they made their home in Fredericksburg. She worked as a Budget Analyst for the National Park Service for 35 years and also was an instructor for accounting and budgeting systems for the Park Service. Carol was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Fredericksburg Emmaus Group where she participated on many teams, and was a very active member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. Carol had a servants heart and dedicated many hours of service to her church. She participated in and helped with many activities: the Praise Team where she played the tambourine, Cards for Christ, the Gebet Engels where she helped make prayer shawls and she also helped with the Kid's Music Academy and the Wednesday After School Program. In addition to this she also helped with VBS and Sunday School. Carol was a 7 year survivor of cancer and she did not let her health problems keep her from serving her church.

Memorials in her honor may be made to Fredericksburg United Methodist Church or to the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Foundation.
