Carl Gustav Kuhlmann of Mason, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 78.

Carl is survived by his son Walker Kuhlmann and fiancé Brianna Tatsch of Mason, his daughters Ashley Kuhlmann and fiancé Garrett Chumchal of San Marcos, and Julianna Kuhlmann and fiancé Brandon Bailey of Mason, his brothers Gary Kuhlmann (Michelle) of Fredericksburg Charles Kuhlmann (Makayla) of Harper and his sister Jean Merz (Norman) of Fredericksburg, his grandchildren, Richard Montellano, Jacie Smedley, Jamie Greenwood (Mason Greenwood) and Grayson Kuhlmann, and one great grandchild Layla Greenwood.  He is also survived by Cathy Kuhlmann, the mother of his son Walker.  He was preceded in death by three sisters:  Helen Fairholm, Shirley Jung and Elaine Weed along with Ashley and Julianna's mother, Doris Schmidt.

Carl was born in Fredericksburg on October 13, 1946, to Raymond Kuhlmann and Louise Strackbein Kuhlmann.  Carl attended school at Doss and Harper, graduating from Harper High School in 1965.  He was a rancher and sheepshearer.  Carl also worked at the livestock auction in Fredericksburg, Mason and San Saba.  He was a humble, caring, hard-working man.

In his spare time, Carl enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard, fishing and hunting.  He also enjoyed playing dominoes, bingo and working puzzles, or just listening to the radio.  His greatest joy came from being with family, especially his grandchildren.

The visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening, October 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Fahrenthold leading the service.  Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Noel Fairholm, Richard Montellano, Michael Crenwelge, Gerald Crenwelge, Shaun Sattler and Ramiro Cantu.
