Candelaria Hernandez Luna, 64, of Leander Texas, was called by our heavenly father to her eternal rest on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Affectionately known to her family and friends as "Candy", she was born in Levelland, Texas to Micaela and Pedro Hernandez, longtime residents of Mason, Texas.
A devoted, loving mother and wife, she is survived by her husband, Harry Luna, her son Dennis Rodriguez and fiancé Michelle Wygle, her brother Marcelo Hernandez of Casa Grande, AZ, and her sister Vivian Hernandez Serratoz of Wingate, TX. Candy is also survived by her niece whom she loved like a daughter, Rebecca Velasquez of Abilene, Texas, her husband Rudy and grandniece, Micaela as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Micaela Hernandez and brother E.C. (Chon) Hernandez.
Candy will always be remembered as a person who knew no stranger. As a very caring and loving person to her friends, she was always seeking to comfort others before her own needs. One of her loves in life was to travel. She and her husband were blessed to have the opportunity of travelling the world over the last 10 years. She collected Christmas ornaments from each country she visited and at Christmas displayed her collection. Another joy for Candy was cooking for friends and family, ensuring those visiting never left without enjoying a delicious meal, whether gourmet or home style.
A memorial service will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, May 21 at Beck Funeral Home, 1700 East Whitestone, Cedar Park, Texas. Having spent almost all her life in Mason, Texas and continuing many friendships in Mason, a memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 23 at Mason Funeral Home, Mason, Texas, with interment at Crosby Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be contributed to the foundation Radiating Hope at www.radiatinghope.org. The foundation is a 100% volunteer run cancer-cure focused nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve cancer care, specifically radiation oncology care around the world.
