Obituary

Brigida Velez, of Mason, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, at the age of 83. She was born in Mason on October 8, 1927 to Manuel Hernandez and Leandra Esparza Hernandez. She married Felix Velez and they had 6 children.

Brigida was a loving, caring person who put others needs above her own. There is no sacrifice that she wouldn't make to help others. She was a hard working woman who would work all day and still have time for her children when she got home. Only when all of the family's needs were met would she relax and settle down for a well deserved break. There was no challenge she couldn't meet and conquer. She is finally getting the rest that she earned and she is sitting in Heaven still watching over her family as she always did and always will until we see her again.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 2, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church in Mason. Interment will follow in Crosby Cemetery. The Rosary will be Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel.

Mrs. Velez is survived by four children: Frank Velez of Austin, Linda Nuncio of 29 Palms, California, John Velez and wife Debbie of Tomball, Texas and Felix Velez Jr. of Brady, two brothers Manuel Hernandez of Kermit, Juan Hernandez and wife Gloria of Plainview and a sister Connie Deanda and husband Lupe of Menard. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Chris Velez and wife Samantha of San Antonio; Mike Velez and wife Adrian of Cypress; Melissa Velez of Arlington; Theresa Mendoza of Brady; Nicky Mendoza of Brady; Joe Nuncio of Brady; Tonia Nuncio of 29 Palms, Califronia and several great-grandchildren.
