Brenda J. Chapman, of San Saba, passed away on Saturday, July 3, at the age of 65. She was born on June 29, 1945 in Mason to Walter H. Durst and Myrtle Mae Crouch Durst. She was raised on the Block House Ranch and was a 1963 graduate of Mason High School. On August 28, 1965 she married Willie "Bill" Chapman in Mexico. They first lived in Menard where they worked in the grocery business and after that lived in several places before settling in Mason for 34 years and then living in San Saba for the last 4 years.. For 24 years Brenda served as the RSVP Coordinator for Hill Country Community Action. Brenda and her mother also operated a bakery in Mason for a short time. She was woman of strong faith and was not afraid to share her faith with others. She loved to read the Bible. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, quilting, cross stitching, scrap booking and arts and crafts.
Brenda is survived by her husband Willie "Bill" Chapman of San Saba, a son Matt Chapman and wife Jill of RAF Laken Heath, England a daughter Tracie Ellebracht of Mason, her father Walter H. Durst Jr. of Mason, a brother Tommy Durst and wife June of Mason and a sister Rhonda McFarland and husband Freddie of Leander. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Mariah Chapman, Hunter Chapman, Christopher Anderson, Ty Ellebracht and Briana Ellebracht. Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Myrtle Mae Durst and by a brother Jimmy Durst.
Funeral services will be held graveside at the Gooch Cemetery in Mason on Tuesday July 6, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mason County Cancer Benefit.
