Bobby Joe Thomas, 77, passed away July 9, 2021 in Logan, New Mexico.  Bobby Joe was born May 8, 1944 in Brady, Texas to Clayton and Marie Thomas.  He married Jeanette Dearing on March 7, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bobby Joe enjoyed rodeo, team roping, ranching and spending time with family.  He loved working with cattle and horses and was always willing to teach young people about horses and roping.  He was also a great horseman and was very knowledgeable about their pedigrees and starting new colts.  Bobby Joe worked at Texas Mining for several years and after retiring he worked at Jordan Livestock Auction.

Bobby Joe is survived by his wife Jeanette "Tiny" Thomas of Logan, New Mexico; his son Jim Bob Thomas, wife Mindy and son Cade of Mason, TX; his daughter Jackie Smith, her husband Wesley and their daughters Bailey Rhea and Kindal of Logan, New Mexico; daughter Jody Green and husband Jason of Panhandle, Texas; granddaughter Kaysea Christopher, husband Wesley and their sons Blake and Kody of Clarendon, Texas.  Sisters Sue Gardner and Skip Stambaugh and her husband Barry.  Bobby Joe was also blessed with very special nieces and nephews and a host of great friends.

Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his parents Clayton Thomas and Marie LaNear and a brother Billy Neal Thomas as well as a great granddaughter Holleigh Joe Christopher.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 am at Wagram Cemetery in Fredonia, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations in memory of Bobby Joe to the Mason Rodeo Association.
