Bobby Jake Jones was born December 22, 1931. He went to his eternal home on February 3, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel (Jake) and Ola Turner Jones, his brother, James Taylor Jones, two sisters, Sammy Mae Jones and Judy Gwin and his grandson, Jake Winfield Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Madalyn Pelegrino Jones, son Bill (Connie) Jones, daughters, Janet (Mitchell) Bankston, Lisa (George) Velez and Pamela (Jeff) Medici. Grandchildren – Wade Jones, Courtney Jones, Bradley Jones, Lauren (Daniel) Simmons, Mark Velez, Allyson Medici and Anna Medici. Step Grandchildren – Jessica (Jordan) Ellis, George (Norma) Velez, Brandy (D.J.) Wright and Deserea Wright.

Great grandchildren – Payton and Jackson Jones, Teague and Manning Kate Simmons.

Step Great grandchildren – Arianna and Ryan Ellis, George Daniel, Olivia and Kamila
Velez and Skyla and Carter Wright. A niece Annie (Thomas) O'Neal and a nephew Sammy (Maranda) Gwin.

Bob spent most of his life as a rancher, but along the way he did many other jobs to raise his family. He graduated from Burbank High School at 16 and worked in his cousins Gulf station until he could own two of his own. He spent 8 years working for Kendall Refining Co. and then spent 20 years with Southwestern Bell where he retired and spent the rest of his life ranching at Long Mountain.

While working at Kendall he met his future wife and they married December 28, 1960. They moved to Lytle, Texas and spent 28 years there until he retired and ranched the rest of his life.

Bobs love of God and his family was evident in everything he did. While living on the ranch he became a deacon at the London Baptist Church and he and 3 of his grandchildren were baptised in the river at Yates Crossing. He showed his family how to live a Christian life by example.

Bob's handshake was his word and people always remarked on what large hands he had. The children grew up knowing nothing but gentleness from them.

Bob grew up for the first 8 years of his life on his Grandfather Jones ranch out Blanco Road in San Antonio. He went to a one room schoolhouse until the 6 ^th grade. The old schoolhouse is still there and someone lives there. He did his homework by kerosene light, but they did have water at the kitchen sink. His Grandpa taught him to ride a horse before he could walk and they spent hours riding. Bob grew up in a different time and he loved telling stories to his family.

Every child that came along was special to him and he always tried to make sure they knew how much he loved them. Bob was a man of strength and great love to his family. The last thing he would say to them when they left the house was "I love you". He was loved and they will never forget him.

Memorial may be made to the Mason County EMS or the Mason County Volunteer Fire Department.

Visitation will be Saturday morning, February 9, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at Mason Funeral Home. Graveside service and burial will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the Lytle Community Cemetery.
