Billy E. Clapp, age 91, passed away October 13, 2020.
He was born June 6, 1929 in Kermit, Texas, the son son of Ray and Pauline Clapp. They later moved to a ranch west of London and he graduated from Junction High school.
Billy married Mary Sue Hahn in 1951 and worked as a roughneck and driller in the oil field in Texas, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. In 1962 they settled in Grand Junction, Colorado where they lived until they sold their heavy equipment repair business and moved back to Mason in 2000 to be with their family.
One of his main past-times was playing 42 with his friends at Long Mountain, Saline and Grit.
He was Uncle Bill to his nephews Gary and Stephen Hahn and their children Mike, Jessica, Amanda and Jennifer. Every fall was a special time for hunting with Dean, Billie and Cody Hahn on our place at Long Mountain.
Billy is survived by his wife Mary Sue, of Mason, two sisters, Nita and her husband Bill Hight of Erna and Dorothy Miller of Dallas, sister-in-law Betty Ann McAdams of Albuquerque, New Mexico, brother-in-law Dick Hahn of Mason, nephews Gary and wife Jeanne of Mason, Stephen and wife Cristine of Coatsville, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his brother Clifford Clapp.
Funeral services will be held graveside at the Long Mountain Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, with Rev. Peter Aguilar leading the service.
