Betty was born on April 2, 1942 in Floresville, Texas to Luther Douglas and Letha Mae Gann. She married her husband of 61 years, Gary Gene Haass, on July 15, 1961. Betty was baptized into her faith along with both of her sons on December 23, 1966. She came into the Church the next spring on March 1, 1967. Betty and Gary made their home in Helotes, Texas for over 40 years where they were also parishioners at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Those years were spent raising two sons and lots of animals. Betty designed, helped build and maintained a home that not only became a central location for family, but one that she opened to multiple family and friends who were in need of help at some point in their life. Betty has a true servant's heart, and she modeled that to everyone, even in her last days on this earth. While Betty found great joy in raising and showing her animals, she probably had her greatest satisfaction in years of following, watching and supporting the countless athletic and academic events of her husband, sons, grandchildren and nephews. Maybe her happiest moment in the latter years of her life was her modeling of faith that helped bring her husband Gary to confirmation in the Church at Easter 2022. Betty has been attending St. Joseph's in Mason over the last two years as she and Gary traveled with her son and daughter-in-law between homes in Seguin and Field Creek. She became a full time parishioner at St. Joseph's last fall before the holidays, as travel had become too much for her and Field Creek became her full time home. Betty went to meet the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the age of 80 years. She died at home in the loving presence of her family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Letha Mae Gann; her father-in-law Vincent Phillip Haass; and her sponsors in her faith,George and Hilda McCollum. She is survived by her husband, Gary Gene Haass; her son Gary Douglas Haass and his wife Stephanie; her son David Scott Haass and his wife Paige; her grandchildren, Courtney Shudak and her husband Brett, Vincent Haass, Garrett Haass and Cullen Haass; her sister Shirley Glenney and her husband Sam; her brother, Luther Gann and his wife Linda; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gayle and Georgiana Haass; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

A rosary will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mason, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's on Friday January 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the mass there will be a reception at the home of Gary and Stephanie Haass in Field Creek. Rite of Committal will be a private ceremony on Saturday.
