Obituary

Betty Garner, of San Angelo and formerly of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, at the age of 78. Betty was born in Mason on November 30, 1939 to J.D. Garner and Hazel Gifford Garner. She was raised in Mason and is a 1958 graduate of Mason High School.

After high school Betty went to Austin and trained to be a beautician. After getting her license she returned to Mason and opened a beauty shop on the square. After working as a beautician for several years Betty went in partnership with her mother and opened the Kreme Kup. It would become a very popular place to eat in Mason. She also owned and operated the Cutting Board restaurant. After retiring, Betty moved to San Angelo to be closer to her family. She lived at "Christian Village" and was sell known for all of the volunteer work she did there. In her spare time Betty enjoyed going to the river with her nieces and nephews and she enjoyed going to the casinos.

Ms. Garner is survived by her son Brian Garner and wife Angela of San Angelo, two sisters Bonnie Skaggs of Georgetown and Jackie Bannister of Water Valley, a brother Jerry Garner and wife Jana of Glen Rose, three grandchildren: Taylor Garner, Mason Garner and Brittnee Garner along with several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by a sister Linda Gayle Robbins.\

Visitation with the family will be Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Mason Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Gooch Cemetery.
