Bennett Martin passed away on July 7, 2009 at the age of 67. Mr. Martin is survived by his daughter Candace Martin-O'Connor and husband Ben of Ft. Collins, Colorado, a granddaughter Lily Dale O'Connor a sister Bernita Faye Thomas of Vero Beach, Florida and the mother of their daughter Judith Work of Ft. Collins. Per Mr. Martin's request, his body will be cremated and there will not be any services.

Bennett was born in South Oak Cliff, Texas to Linwood Martin and Bernita Faye Martin. He was a graduate of the University of Texas, at Austin. He served his country in the army during the Vietnam War. Bennett was a captain in the merchant marine. After retiring, he lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a few years before moving to Mason in 1982.
