Obituary

Beatrice Holloway, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, at the age of 90. Beatrice was born on December 11, 1919 in Llano County to Belton Underwood and Carrie Churchill Underwood. She was raised in the Field Creek area of Llano County. On December 16, 1937 she married Albert J. Holloway at Field Creek. Their marriage was blessed with two children. They made their home in the Fly Gap and Pontotoc communities and later Beatrice moved into Mason.

Beatrice is survived by her children Larry Max Holloway and wife Carolyn "Schatzie" Holloway of Burnet, and Sherry Willmann and husband I.G. of Mason. She is also survived by five grandchildren Quint Willmann, Quade Willmann and wife Ashley, Jayme Silerio and husband Freddie, Max Holloway and wife Cathy, Michelle Barnes and husband Chris, six great-grandchildren Tanner Barnes, Brittany Holloway, Kason Silerio, Kaelee Silerio, Sutten Silerio and Ryder Willmann, and two sisters-in-law Odessa Dannheim and Wanda Holloway. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert J. Holloway in 1977 and by two brothers and a sister.

The work of the Church was very important to Beatrice. She was an active member of Mason First Baptist Church where she served on many committees and devoted much of her time. She was also a director of the Union Band Cemetery Association. Through the years she worked at Underwood's Grocery and then at Dallas Stephens Grocery. Beatrice loved her family. She sewed for her children and grandchildren and enjoyed cooking and baking for them. They have very fond memories of orange turtle cookies, buttermilk and Lemon Meringue pies and fried chicken. If you went to her house you couldn't leave without her offering to get you something to eat. Beatrice loved plants and flowers and had a really good "green thumb".

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mason First Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Ash officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Band Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Max Holloway, Quint Willmann, Quaid Willmann, Tim Underwood, Richard Polk, Clyde Martin, Freddie Silerio and Chris Barnes. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Phillips, Bill Placker, Dalton Stephens, David Hoerster, Tanner Barnes and Kason Silerio.
