Barbara Thompson, of Mason, passed away on Saturday, June 28, at the age of 78.  Barbara was born on July 26, 1946, in London, Arkansas to Donald Brown and Agnes Harkey Brown.  The family moved to Paris, Arkansas when she was young and that is where she was raised.  Barbara liked to say she was born in London and raised in Paris!

In 1964 Barbara married Ray Thompson and they were together for forty years until his death in 2004.  In 1971 Barbara and Ray and their family moved to Mason. In Mason, Barbara was the Administrator of the Mason Nursing Home from 1971 until its closing.  She spent long hours there trying to provide the best care possible for the residents.

Barbara was a member of the Calvary Lighthouse church.  When not working at the nursing home Barbara enjoyed gardening, woodworking with her husband Ray, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children Darrel Thompson and wife Nancy of Mason, , Melissa Gaona and husband Rocky of Wharton, two brothers Carl Brown and wife Yolanda of New Mexico and Bill Brown and his wife of Jordan, Utah along with three grandsons John Wesley Thompson, Myles Gaona, Michael Gaona and numerous great-grandchildren.  Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Ray Thompson and a granddaughter Kellie Tatsch

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, July 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Gooch Cemetery.
