Barbara "Christine" Cortez, 73 years old, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in her home after a bravely fought battle with cancer. She was born on February 24, 1949, to Chester and Ethel Airheart. She was a lifelong resident of Mason, Tx. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her love for her family and friends was only surpassed by her love for Jesus Christ.

On April 4, 1975, Christine married Adam Cortez of Cuero, Tx.  They were blessed with two children, Christel Bell and Adam Jeremy.

Christine is survived by her children, Christel Lively, husband Aaron of Mason, Tx, Adam Jeremy Cortez, wife Stormi, of Christoval Tx, grandchildren Caitlin Jade Ross of Brady, Tx., Sadie Belle Ross of Mason, Tx., Adam Jacob Cortez of Christoval, Tx., Jackson Parker Cortez of Christoval. Tx., honorary grandchildren Leah Lively of Austin, Tx., Loren Lively of Bastrop, Tx., and Zayne Porch of Austin, Tx., and one great-grandchild (and birthday buddy) Adam Charles Bradley, her sisters Carolyn Airheart of Mason, Tx., and Tonie Jones of Chugiack, Ak., and one brother C.H. "Butch" Airheart. Christine is also survived by her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved dearly.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Cortez, her parents Chester and Ethel Airheart, her sister Virginia Brown, and brothers Gordon Airheart and Boyd Airheart.

Pall Bearers are Jacob Beam, Roy Hoerster, Glen Tatsch, Levi Munsell, John Gammill and Denton Dick.  Honorary pall bearers are Pete Airheart, Raymond Castaneda, David Wilson, Timothy Jones and Daniel Busker.

Memorials may be made to the Mason County Cancer Benefit fund.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, September 23 from 5-7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow at the Cavness Cemetery.
