Austin Garrett, of Mason and Round Rock, passed away on Thursday, March 15, at the age of 15. Austin is survived by his parents Susan Hooten of Mason and Johnny Castillo of Round Rock along with 4 sisters Melissa Hooten, Kaeli Hooten, Abigail Hooten and Brooklyn Garrett all of Mason and a brother Urijah Castillo of Round Rock, grandparents Delores Garrett of Mason, Victoria Duarte and husband Ray of Mason and Manuel Castillo and wife Mary of Kerrville and great-grandparents Juan and Maria Vasquez. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Austin was preceded in death by his grandfather Bill Garrett.
Austin was born in Fredericksburg on June 25, 1996. He lived in Mason for many years before moving to Round Rock a couple of years ago to live with his father. He was a student at Round Rock High School where he enjoyed the advanced computer classes. Austin liked to play tennis and enjoyed networking and gaming and working out. He was a compassionate and remarkably understanding young man who always seemed to know just the right words of comfort to give. He loved spending time with family and friends. His kind heart and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services for Austin Garrett will be held on Sunday, March 18, at 3:00 p.m. at River of Life Church in Mason with Pastor Gary Davel officiating. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.
