Aurelia Cantu, of Harper, passed away on Friday, December 29 at the age of 71. Mrs. Cantu is survived by her husband Margarito Cantu of Harper, a daughter Michelle Arreola and husband David of Harper, a brother Domingo Soto Jr. and wife Norma of Austin, sisters Maxine Martinez and husband Albert of Mason, Gloria Lopez and husband Saul of Fort Worth, Mary Ann Jaquez and husband Johnny of Mason, Rosalie Soto of Burlington, Colorado and 3 grandchildren Hedey Lee Benitez, Nathan Arreola and Natalie Arreola. She was preceded in death by a brother, Abraham Soto Sr.
Aurelia was born in Winters, Texas on April 28, 1946 to Domingo Soto Sr. and Evangelina Castillo Soto. Aurelia was struck with polio when she was a young child. This limited her mobility, but not her spirit. She was a beautiful, happy person who enjoyed being around people. In earlier years she liked to style hair and would lean on her crutches while she worked on someone's hair. Aurelia also liked to embroider and enjoyed riding around the countryside. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Monday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5. The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 2, at 3:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Ben Aquirre leading the service. Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery.
