Arles Max "Boots" Schuch passed away peacefully Saturday, July 15 at his home in Mason, Texas. On May 17, 1936 Arles was born in Fredericksburg and delivered by a midwife, Grandma Scott who had long red hair. He was a graduate of Mason High School and attended Nixon Business College in Austin. Arles served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He had three children, Robin Lynn Brady, Lesley Ann Stevens and Todd Landrum Schuch.

Arles lived in Colorado Springs, CO, Lubbock, Orange, Brady and Mason. He worked as a truck driver most of his life. He also worked as a rodeo clown (hence the nickname 'Boots") for a short while where he used his pet skunk Blossom as part of his clown act. Arles was passionate about hunting and fishing and it has been suggested that the character Arles from the book "Old Yeller" may have been influenced by him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Max and Ella Mae Schuch, a son Todd Schuch and a sister Opal "Pete" Meyer. He is survived by his daughters Robin Brady (Ed) of Axtell and Lesley Ann Stevens (Michael Wayne) of Arlington a brother Skily Wayne Schuch (Diana) of Del Rio a sister Leola Grote (Walton) of Mason, a very special great-aunt Gertrude Land of Fredericksburg, seven grandchildren: Ian Trask Brady (Ashley), Tye Michael Murley (Tobi), Sean William Brady (Elizabeth), Brooklyn Kay Hendry, Sierra Hendry, Reagan Rae Stevens, Julie Stockton and four great-grandchildren: Lucas Giovanni Brady, Marilyn Marie Brady, Tannah Lynne Murley and Tessa Ann-Marie Murley.

Visitation with the family is Monday, July 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at the Schuch Family Cemetery on Tuesday, July 18, at 3:00 p.m. Everyone is requested to wear bright colors and shed as few tears as possible as that was his wish.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in memory of Todd Schuch, the Alzheimers Research Foundation or the charity of one's choice. Please no flowers or plants.

Serving a pallbearers are Ed Brady, Tye Michael Murley, Sean William Brady, Tim Meyer, Dan Meyer and Max Meyer. Honorary pallbearers are Brooklyn Kay and Sierra Ann Hendry and Reagan Rae Stevens.

The family lovingly thanks Yolanda Hernandez and her two grandsons Sebastian and Maddox for caring for Arles during his final months on this earth. The family also wishes to thank Ana Gurrola, Crissy Schuch, Kami Coolidge, Linda Seip and Mina Hogue of the hospice team.
