Anna Lena Polk

Anna Lena Polk, 88, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Park Plaza Care Center in San Angelo. She was born October 19, 1923 to Adolph and Bertha Probst in Mason as the first of three children. She married Sylvester Wilkes Polk on June 20, 1957. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1978.

Anna held several different jobs during her life time in Mason. She worked at Mason Rexall Drug Store, Mason Veterinary Hospital, Mason Locker Plant and Winn's Variety Store. She spent many hot summers hoeing peanuts with Wilkes and her daughter at their peanut farm. She spent her last years at Park Plaza Nursing Center in San Angelo near her daughter and son.

Anna is survived by her son David Kitchens and wife Joy; daughter Janette Polk Dailey and husband Mark all of San Angelo; the joys of her life her granddaughters; Brianna Dailey of San Angelo and Victoria Dailey of Temple. She is also survived by her sister Flora Haines of Mason and sister-in-law Lou Etta Probst of Camp San Saba and her nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Bertha Probst, a brother Adolph Probst Jr., brother-in-law Raymond Haines, sisters-in-law Eva Mae Spaeth and Lydia Polk and brothers-in-law Duke Polk and Herman Spaeth.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Park Plaza Nursing Center, especially Faye, Tacara, Miss Alvey, Travis Blossom, Jessica, Angela, Irma, Gloria and many others for their special care of Anna. They would also like to thank Hospice of San Angelo and their staff as well as Dr. Chang for their attentive care of our mother.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. till noon on Wednesday. Serving as pallbearers are Robin Klingelhefer, Jerry Probst, Michael Probst, John Haines, Rex Smith and Teddy Ray Doyal.

Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
