Obituary

Andrew Roman Kothmann, first son of Albert and Hulda Wiedemann Kothmann, was born August 12, 1910 in the Fly Gap community in Mason County. He attended school several years at Fly Gap and then at Union School through the tenth grade. Andrew received his religious training at Art United Methodist Church, Mason County, and has been an active member there all his life.

On October 19, 1945, Andrew married Ida Louise Smith in Houston, Texas. They were together for 56 years until her death in 2002. Andrew lived in the home built in 1886 by his grandfather, since 1929. Andrew has ranched and farmed on this place all his life. He also worked at the auction house for several years.

Andrew is survived by his children: Kenneth A. Kothmann and wife Brenda of Art, Judy G. Kothmann and partner Chris Bird of Mason and Sherry Clauson and husband Dale of Crestline, CA, 4 grandchildren: Keven Kothmann and wife Tennile of Art, Brad Kothmann and wife Brandy of Kyle, Randall Clauson and wife Stefani of Houston and Amanda Clauson of Los Angeles, CA and 7 great-grandchildren: Jordan Kothmann Hernandez and husband Efrin of Mason, Kelly Kothmann of Art, Chastin Evans of Kyle, Elijah Clauson of Houston, Kyle Kothmann of Kyle, Audrianna Clauson of Houston, and Chesney Kothmann of Kyle along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Andrew was preceded in death by his wife Ida Louise Kothmann, brothers Elwood and Franklin Kothmann, and sisters Irene Zesch and Ruby Nell Greaber.

Funeral services for Andrew Kothmann will be held on Wednesday, November 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Art United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Krause officiating. Burial will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Clauson, Chris Bird, Keven Kothmann, Brad Kothmann, Randall Clauson, David Watts, Neal Donop, and Larry Moseley. Honorary pallbearers will be Amanda Clauson, Jordan Kothmann Hernandez, Kelly Kothmann, Chastin Evans, Elijah Clauson, Kyle Kothmann, Audrianna Clauson, and Chesney Kothmann.

The family of Mr. Kothmann would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Ramsay, Dr. Michael Jones, Dr. Greg Andreassian, Chaplain Alan Matthies, the nursing staff at Hill Country Memorial Hospital, the girls at Hill Country Home Health, friends and members of the Art United Methodist Church, and pastor Mark Krause for their concern, their prayers, and their help.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Kothmann's honor to Art United Methodist Church, Gooch Cemetery, or the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Foundation- Chapel Fund.
