Alfred Palacio, of Mason, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, at the age of 73. Mr. Palacio is survived by his wife Jesusa Palacio, of Mason, five children: Terry Garza and husband Paul of Dilley, Beatrice Torres and husband Alfredo of Mason, Martin Palacio and wife Grace of Mason, Joe Alfred Palacio of Lockhart and Tommy Ray Palacio of Baird, ten brothers and sisters: Daniel Palacio of Mason, Enrique Palacio and wife Mary of Mason, Louis Palacio of Mason, Louisa Palacio of Mason, David Palacio of Mason, Moses Palacio of San Angelo, Pete Palacio and wife Diana of San Angelo, Paul Palacio of San Antonio, Rosalinda Martinez and husband Julian of Mason, Irene Gloria and husband Andrew of Brownwood, 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by a son, Robert Palacio, 2 sisters Frances Soto and Mary Inez Trevino and 2 grandchildren Lorenzo Hernandez and Chelsea Palacio.

Mr. Palacio will lie in state from 1 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. till 7 p.m. on Friday, October 24, with a Rosary to be held at 7. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Melvin Dornak on Saturday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Waylon Garza, Eugino Alfredo Garza, Jeremy Jesse Hernandez, Alfredo Torres Jr., Jessie Palacio and Emilio Palacio.

Alfred was born in Mason on April 13, 1941 to Paulino Palacio and Anastacia Aguirre Palacio. He was a life-long resident of Mason County. On July 6, 1959 Alfred married Maria "Jesse" DeJesus Cantu in Mason. Alfred did ranch work, sheep shearing and general labor. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed relaxing on his front porch. Alfred also liked to fix cars and do mechanic work.
