Alfred Dan Jordan, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born June 29, 1939, to August and Esther Kensing Jordan in Mason, Texas. He was the first Grandson on both sides of his family. He graduated from Mason High School in 1957 and joined the United States Army that same year. He married his High School sweetheart, Pauline Edmona Surber, in 1958 and moved to Fort Gordon, Georgia. They were fondly called "Fred and Ed". They returned to Mason until 1974, when the family moved to San Antonio, Texas.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife and brother, Mike. He is survived by his son Mitch Jordan (Stacy) and daughter, Mychel Jordan, granddaughters Sara Barnett (Mitch) and Jena Jordan; his sister Susan Ceynowa (John) and his brother Sam Jordan (Wendy); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was lovingly called Poppy by many.

He proudly served our Country, worked in the family feedstore, as a drafter and a long-haul truck driver. As a long-haul driver, he saw much of this country and boy did he have some unique experiences. If you were lucky, you heard a few of his stories.

He enjoyed family game nights, always the winner. He was sharp-witted and had the perfect "Fredism" for every interaction. He will be remembered by many for his sense of humor, generosity, love and dedication to family and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Mason Funeral Home, located in Mason, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the same funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Gooch Cemetery.
