Mr. Albert Navarro Sr., of Mason, passed away on Monday, September 14, at the age of 75. Mr. Navarro is survived by his wife Carmen Navarro of Mason, a daughter Margie Sanchez and husband Raul of Mason, a son Gilbert Navarro of Mason, a brother Ignacio Navarro of Dime Box, and a sister Nestoria Benavidez of Pearsall. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Jenni Armendarez and husband Jo-el of Binsfeld Germany, Raul Sanchez Jr. of Cahoma, Margaret Zibbel and husband Aaron of Anchorage, Alaska, Ruberto Sanchez of San Angelo, Robert Navarro of Corpus Christi, Felicia Navarro of San Angelo, Alyssa Navarro of Mission and 2 great-grandchildren Korynn Belen Armendarez and Lilah Armendarez both of Binsfeld, Germany.

Albert was born on April 23, 1934 in Pearsall, Texas to Agapito Navarro and Margarita Valenzuela Navarro. In earlier years Albert participated in calf roping in the rodeo. It was at a restaurant in Pearsall that he met Carmen Hernandez and they fell in love. On June 9, 1956 he married Carmen at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In 1965 he and Carmen moved to Mason where he did ranch work and worked as a fence contractor. Albert was a hard working man of quiet dignity who never lost his love and respect for the land

A vigil service for Mr. Navarro will be held on Wednesday, September 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Diego Ramirez, Eric Silerio, Johnathan "J.J." Rodriguez, Jesse Palacio and Emilio Villarreal. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Raul Sanchez Jr., Ruberto Sanchez, Robert Navarro along with Fred Zavalla, Ernesto Vasquez and Mark Grosse.

Memorials in Albert's honor may be made to the Mason County Cancer Society or to the Mason County "Critter Gitters".
